Responsibilities:

Research

  • Conduct user research (e.g., internal, external, on-site, and remote) to gather information about users and client needs.
  • Develop materials (e.g., personas, journey mappings, research summaries from interviews or observations) to help guide design and inform development teams and other stakeholders.
  • Assess and validate usability of upcoming and existing designs via usability testing, observation, and other analytics.

 

Design

  • Collaborate closely with the design and development teams to generate thoughtful, innovative, and fit-to-purpose designs.
  • Create visual aids (e.g., workflows, mock-ups) to help communicate design vision to stakeholders.
  • Lead, facilitate, and participate in group design sessions to establish diverse perspectives early and continuously through the design process
  • Ensure that a cohesive design approach is followed in all stages of the SDLC

 

Team Participation

  • Lead project user experience and product design in coordination with product owners, solution architects, software engineers, quality assurance engineers and technical authors.
  • Participate as a member of an Agile team (or teams) to ensure a consistent and high-quality user experience from beginning to end, including the internal users, clients, and support teams.
  • Ensure that a cohesive design approach is followed in all stages of the SDLC.

 

Leadership

  • Contribute to defining product goals and roadmaps.
  • Promote user-centered design across the organization for the development of effective solutions.
 
Skills
  • Understanding of best practices for web based design as well as solid foundation in research, architecture foundation and interaction design principals. 
  • Ability to quickly produce elegant and easily understood diagrams, wireframes, design prototypes and other artifacts.
  • Experience facilitating multi-disciplinary design workshops and managing meetings
  • Ability to acquire and make design decisions based on user or business data/ analytics

  • Ability to work independently and balance multiple projects while meeting tight deadlines

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Able to work independently with less supervision of day-to-day tasks

System Knowledge

  • Experience with of wireframing and prototyping tools (e.g., Figma, Axure, Invision, etc
  • Basic understanding of front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, frameworks/components, etc.) 
  • Experience with Agile methodologies.

 

Education and Minimum Experience

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in related field or equivalent work experience
  • 2 to 4 years work experience preferred
  • Enterprise/B2B or financial software preferred
