Role Purpose

To be successful as a senior accountant, you should have a solid working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and strong financial analysis skills. An outstanding senior accountant should also possess strong Excel skills, be detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to work with little to no supervision and perform under pressure.

 

Primary Responsibilities

We are looking for a self-motivated and highly organized individual with great attention to detail.

 

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

 

  • Maintaining and reconciling balance sheet and general ledger accounts.
  • Assessing internal controls, including risk assessments and reviews of risk areas
  • Performing monthly balance sheet, income statement and changes in financial position/budget variance analyses
  • Maintaining, recording and reconciling fixed assets schedules
  • Maintaining, recording and reconciling lease schedules
  • Maintaining, recording and reconciling prepaid schedules
  • Maintaining, recording and reconciling intangible amortization schedules
  • Maintaining, recording and reconciling share-based compensation schedules
  • Recording and reconciling interest accruals/expenses
  • Recording and reconciling audit and tax preparation expenses.
  • Assisting with preparing and reconciling actuals vs. budget.
  • Assisting with annual audit preparations.
  • Investigating and resolving audit findings, account discrepancies, and issues of non-compliance.
  • Contributing to the development of new or amended accounting systems, programs, and procedures.
  • Performing other accounting duties and supporting junior staff as required or assigned.

 

 

 

 

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required.
  • CPA certification preferred
  • 5+ years accounting experience

 

Essential skills

 

  • Working knowledge of tax laws and GAAP.
  • Strong financial analysis skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong organizational and stress management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly with Excel.
  • Proficiency with enterprise-level accounting applications (Netsuite preferred)
  • Ability to train and manage staff.
  • Ability to work with little to no supervision.
