Associate Market Data Specialist (analyst)

The Montreal office is the market data hub for the global company. The Equity, Index & Operations team is responsible for the quality and daily assessments of equity type securities, mutual funds, exchange rates, indices as well as the customer service for our North American client base.
We are currently recruiting for a Market Data Specialist to join our Equity and Data Operations team in Montreal. This is an exciting new role with many opportunities to work with financial market data and grow within our team.
- Validating price returns, corporate events and historical performance to match client expectation as well as benchmarks.
- Ensuring data quality and identifying outliers (Equities, FX rates, Corporate Actions, some Fixed income evaluation data).
- Constantly seeking process automation, methodology updates, workflows improvements and documentation.
- Analyzing issues at any point in the workflow from vendor, to internal system, to client delivery.
- Providing support to external clients, internal client services and development teams.
- Very comfortable with financial market data and how stocks, bonds, indices, etc. are used.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Solid knowledge of Excel and SQL.
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment with production deadlines.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, working knowledge of French.
- Flexible with occasionally working a non-standard shift as required:
- 8:00am to 4:00pm
- 2:00pm to 10:00pm (~ once a week)
- Bachelor’s degree in Business/Finance, mathematics, statistics, economics, or related fields.
- 0 to 1 years in similar role.
- Experience with financial instrument data, bond terms and conditions, equities and derivatives.
- Knowledge of asset and portfolio analytics.
- Ability to write simple code in VBA or other (an asset).
- Experience with JIRA/Confluence ticketing system.
- Very high attention to detail.
