Senior Corporate Counsel

The primary responsibility of this role is to provide timely and high-quality legal support and guidance to Confluence’s domestic and international business units.  This requires management of project activities, tasks, and monitoring and reporting.  This position is located in Confluence’s corporate headquarters in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and the incumbent must have the ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed.

Essential Responsibilities

The Corporate Counsel is responsible for the following:

  • Preparing, negotiating, reviewing and revising all contracts, including software licenses, consulting agreements and non-disclosure agreements
  • Collaborating with internal clients at all levels to effectively balance the goal of minimizing legal risk with the need to support and assist in the achievement of business and strategic objectives
  • Handling a high volume of contract work for the sales and professional services functions of the business as well as providing support for certain day to day needs of the business
  • Working confidently with a high level of independence and responsibility to provide legal advice and support directly to internal clients supported
  • Other duties as assigned


  • JD from accredited law school; a member in good standing of the Bar of the Supreme Court of the state in which he or she practices law
  • Six or more years legal experience; experience in both firm and in-house settings preferred; experience with software licensing strongly preferred; general corporate practice a plus
  • International business and financial/investment services industry experience strongly preferred

  • Strong understanding of the business model, how it applies to current position, what needs to be done to provide the greatest value, and how to leverage strengths at this level which requires building competencies and focusing on the right things.
